What this site keeps, and why.
- Reading. Google Analytics counts visits and which pages are read. It sets cookies to tell visits apart, except in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, where it runs without them. Google handles that data under its own terms: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. No ads, and nothing is sold.
- Writing to me. The postcard sends your name, email address and note to my inbox through Resend, so I can reply. That's the only use.
- The newsletter. Your email address sits on my list with Resend, used only to send The Rivas Roundup. Write to hello@eltonrivas.com and you're off it.
- Spam checks. Both forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to check that a person is sending them. It loads with every page that has a form. What it collects is covered by Cloudflare's Turnstile Privacy Addendum.
- Videos. One older post embeds a YouTube video. When you scroll to it, the player loads from YouTube, which sees that visit under Google's privacy policy.
- Hosting. The site runs on Vercel, which keeps server logs for a short time.
